What Causes Concrete To Settle?

Concrete settlement can result from various factors. Common causes include soil erosion, poor compaction of the base, changes in moisture content, and the sheer weight of the concrete slab. Settlement can occur gradually or, in some cases, more rapidly, potentially leading to uneven surfaces and structural issues. Addressing the underlying causes and seeking professional concrete lifting solutions can help restore stability and safety to your property.

What is Polyurethane Concrete Lifting?

Polyurethane concrete lifting is a cutting-edge technique employed to address sunken or uneven concrete surfaces. It entails the precise injection of a specialized polyurethane foam beneath the affected area. The result is a restored concrete height that not only looks visually appealing but also regains its structural integrity.

How Does Polyurethane Concrete Lifting Work?

Polyurethane concrete lifting begins with carefully drilling small holes in the affected surface. Through these holes, a specialized polyurethane foam is injected. Upon injection, the foam quickly expands, filling any gaps or voids that may have formed beneath the surface. As it expands, it exerts controlled pressure, gently raising and restoring the concrete to its initial level.

How Big Are The Holes?

We employ a nearly inconspicuous 5/8" hole (similar in size to a dime) for our injection process, while traditional mudjacking companies utilize larger 1 5/8" to 2" holes. Our smaller holes not only offer a more discreet appearance but, more crucially, they contribute to preserving the concrete's structural integrity.

What Do You Do With The Holes When You Are Done?

After the lifting process is completed, any access holes that were created are skillfully filled with a specialized cement patch compound. This meticulous patching not only ensures a seamless and aesthetically pleasing finish but also contributes to the long-term durability of your concrete surface.

Is the Process Environmentally Friendly?

Yes, polyurethane concrete lifting is an eco-conscious choice. The polyurethane foam used in this process is notable for its environmental responsibility. It generates minimal waste during application, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable approach to concrete lifting. The foam is non-toxic, making it a safe, responsible choice for your property and the environment.

Is Polyurethane Concrete Lifting Cost-Effective?

Polyurethane concrete lifting is renowned for its cost-effectiveness. This is due to its remarkable durability and the minimal disruption it causes to your property. Unlike traditional methods, which may involve extensive excavation or replacement, polyurethane lifting offers a streamlined and efficient solution. This means not only lower upfront costs but also long-term savings on future maintenance costs.

What Are the Advantages Over Mudjacking?

Polyurethane lifting surpasses mudjacking in several ways. It's minimally invasive, requiring fewer holes and less property disruption. The process provides precise control for an accurate lift. The moisture-resistant polyurethane foam ensures exceptional durability. Its lightweight nature minimizes soil stress, ensuring stable, long-lasting results. This makes polyurethane lifting the superior choice for settling issues.

How Long Does The Work Take To Be Done?

The duration of our work varies depending on the specific scope of the project. For an average residential job, you can typically expect completion within a few hours. This efficiency not only minimizes disruptions to your daily life but also underscores our commitment to delivering prompt and effective solutions for your concrete lifting needs.

How Long Will The Area That Is Raised Be Out Of Service?

In virtually all instances, you'll find that most areas are readily accessible and usable right after our work is completed. This means that there's minimal downtime, allowing you to swiftly regain full access to your spaces without extended waiting periods. Our advanced polyurethane concrete lifting method not only ensures a rapid and efficient process but also offers the advantage of immediate usability.

Can All Concrete Be Raised?

We can effectively elevate and stabilize a wide range of concrete slabs. However, its important to note that severely damaged concrete slabs may present challenges when it comes to lifting, as structural integrity may be compromised.

Will There Be Heavy Equipment On My Property?

As we utilize polyurethane for your concrete repairs, we ensure minimal disruption to your property. A hose is extended directly from our trailer to the repair site, eliminating the need for any heavy equipment to traverse your lawn. Our equipment reach extends up to 200 feet from the trailer unit, providing us with the flexibility to access and address settling concrete in various areas without causing harm to your landscaping or property.

What Will Happen To The Existing Cracks In My Slab(S)?

Regrettably, the cracks themselves may persist, but in many cases, they tend to naturally "close up" as the concrete is carefully repositioned to its original state. Our concrete lifting and levelling process focuses on rectifying the underlying settling issues, which often results in the reduction or elimination of visible cracks. This approach not only enhances the structural integrity of your concrete but also enhances its appearance and overall longevity.

Will This Process Work On Asphalt Or Paving Stones?

No, this is typically not feasible unless there is an existing concrete base beneath the surface. The success of lifting and levelling depends on the presence of a stable substrate. If a concrete base is already in place, it provides the necessary foundation for our processes to work effectively. Lifting may not be a viable solution, as these surfaces may require re-installation or replacement to address settling issues adequately.

Do I Need To Be Present When The Work Is Being Done?

Generally not, as long as the work being done is outside. However, if work is being done on an interior location like a garage floor, in a locked yard, or pet considerations need to be made; then an adult over the age of eighteen is required to be present.

Is FoamLift Inc. Part of a Franchise?

No, we are proud to have incorporated FoamLift Inc. ourselves and provide a true local, 1 on 1 experience with no corporate overhead.

Is A Building Permit Required?

Building permits are not required for polyurethane concrete lifitng.
